Delete your account & data

This page is for players of STARLESS: Relight the Sky (Lanternlight Studios). It explains both ways to have your account and data erased, exactly what is erased, and the two things we keep afterwards and why.

Two ways to do it

1. In the game — immediate

Settings → Account → Delete my account & data, then confirm. It takes effect straight away: the server record is erased and the save on your device is wiped in the same step. No email, no waiting, no talking to us.

2. By request — if you've already uninstalled

Email privacy@playstarless.com with the subject Account deletion request, and include whichever of these you still have:

Email a deletion request

This route also covers the wider requests: a copy of your data, or a correction.

Why we ask you to identify the account

Because deletion can't be undone, we have to be sure the request comes from the account's owner — otherwise anyone who learned your account code could erase your collection. If you played as a guest, never attached an email, and no longer have the device or the code, there may be nothing left that links you to the account. In that case we may not be able to identify it, and we'll tell you so rather than deleting someone else's data on a guess.

What gets deleted

DataWhat it is
Your account recordYour email address and its verified flag, your Apple/Google sign-in identifier if you used one, your two-factor secret and recovery codes if you enabled them, your consent timestamp, and the date the account was created.
Your saveThe entire game state: progress, stages, every familiar, star power, relic, piece of gear, cosmetic, title, currency balance, event and mail state.
Leaderboard entriesEvery board you appear on — you disappear from the rankings.
Sign-in lookupsThe indexes that map your email or Apple/Google identity to the account, so neither can resolve to it again.
The copy on your deviceWhen you delete from inside the game, the local save is wiped in the same action. If you deleted by email after uninstalling, the app is already gone from the device with it.

What we keep, and why

We'd rather tell you this plainly than let "delete everything" quietly mean something narrower.

KeptWhyFor how long
Purchase records — the account identifier, the store (Apple or Google), the product, the store transaction ID, a one-way hash of the receipt, whether it was valid or refunded, and what it granted. These are financial records. Tax and accounting law requires a seller to keep proof of its sales, and that obligation doesn't end because a customer closes an account. It's also what lets us answer a chargeback or a tax audit honestly. We never hold your name, card number, or billing address — the store handles payment and never passes those to us.As long as the applicable tax and accounting rules require (typically several years).
Gameplay event log — an account identifier plus event names like session_start or tutorial_step, with non-personal properties.Aggregate balance and stability work: which stage is a wall, where a tutorial loses people. It contains no email, no device identifier, and nothing that identifies you personally once the account record above is gone.Removed when you ask. The in-game delete button does not currently clear it; an emailed request to privacy@playstarless.com does. If you want it gone, use the email route, or send one afterwards.
A quarantined save, if you ever had one.If a save is ever corrupted in transit or storage, the damaged copy is set aside so it can be repaired or investigated instead of being silently lost. Most accounts never have one.Removed on the same emailed request. Say so and we'll check whether one exists for your account.
Short-lived technical records — the request-replay entries that stop a dropped connection from charging you twice. They're what makes a retry safe. They hold a request ID and the response the server already sent. They expire automatically, within days, with no action from anyone.
Routine backups and server logs.Ordinary infrastructure hygiene; they aren't a shadow copy anyone browses. They age out on their own rolling schedule.

Two things worth knowing before you confirm.
Deletion is permanent — there's no restore, no grace period, and no way for support to bring an account back once it's gone. And deleting your account does not refund purchases; refunds are handled by Apple or Google (see Support).

How long it takes

The pre-registration list is separate

If you gave us your email on this website before launch, that sits in a different system from the game and is not touched by deleting a game account. Any launch email we send has a one-click unsubscribe, or ask privacy@playstarless.com to remove your address and we'll delete that record too.

Your other rights

Depending on where you live — the EEA and UK under the GDPR, California under the CCPA/CPRA, and comparable laws elsewhere — you can also ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent. Same address: privacy@playstarless.com. We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't charge for any of these requests. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
